Sun East Brings Real-World Finance Lessons to Sun Valley Students

Students in Sun Valley High School’s Personal Finance classes had the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals as representatives from Sun East Credit Union visited during Period 5 on Monday, May 4.

Gretchen McDougal and Melissa Lopez Picon led an engaging session focused on real-world financial skills, including the importance of budgeting, understanding credit factors, and making informed financial decisions. Their presentation connected classroom learning to practical applications students will use well beyond high school.

The visit highlights the strong partnership between Sun East Credit Union and Penn-Delco, supporting financial literacy and helping students build a foundation for future success. Representatives also shared additional resources available through Sun East, including their Youth Month initiative and financial wellness tools.

Experiences like this continue to strengthen the district’s commitment to preparing students with the knowledge and skills needed for life after graduation.
