About Sun Valley High School
Sun Valley High School, home of the Vanguards, is proud to educate over 1050 students in grades nine through twelve. The high school offers many academic, technical, business, music and arts programs as well as a full array of extra-curricular activities. Our academic courses range from college prep to honors to advanced placement.
Sun Valley High School offers 15 approved Advanced Placement courses in the core subject areas and the arts. Students may attend Delaware County Technical Schools campus in either Folcroft or Aston for specific technical courses offered in a two year/half day sequence. Over 90% of the graduating students continue their education in post-secondary colleges, universities or technical schools.
Our recently renovated building includes many updates to the technology and our learning environment. This includes a 1-to-1 Chromebook initiative, the use of Schoology, Nearpod, Flipgrid, and EdPuzzle to name a few. Many SVHS teachers pursue a Masters degree and/or additional certification within their field in addition to the goal-specific professional development they participate in at Sun Valley.
To continue meeting the needs of our students, we host a Student Assistance program, led by a professional from Holcomb Behavioral Health; employ five SVHS school counselors; and implement Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) modules within our curriculum.
Knowing how important it is to stay connected with our community and families, the Sun Valley website identifies the many opportunities for students attending SVHS and our school Twitter handle is @SunValleyHS.
